About Me

Baby - 13

Rachel was born on December 5, 1989 in a birthing center in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania. She lived right down the street from the parking lot in the intro song to Fresh Prince of Bel Air. At nine months old she moved down to Miami with her parents Ken and Sandy.

Sandy decided to homeschool her children and they became avid learners and readers. Rachel's favorite pastime was reading and going to the library for a new stack of books to devour; She also took creative writing classes that further sparked her love of storytelling.

At age 13, Rachel's parents revealed the following information over the course of a month:
"We're moving!"
"We're moving to Vermont!"
"You guys are going to start school there!"
"Dad's not going to come with us..."

So Sandy and Ken amicably got divorced and Sandy, Rachel, and younger brother Matthew moved to the hills of St. Johnsbury Vermont in 2003.

Rachel started school for the first time ever at St. Johnsbury Middle School and she loved it all: the backpack, the locker, the pen case, etc.

Then came high school. She met her best friend Becky Sophomore year and had a lot of fun learning and hanging out around town. Small town life meant driving around for the heck of it, a la American Graffiti.

Her favorite classes were public speaking and any English class. At 16 she traveled with People to People Student Ambassadors and  went to: France, Italy, England, Malta, Monaco, and Vatican City. Her favorite place was probably Leon, France.

Then came junior year and time for college applications. She applied all over and Gettysburg College offered the most aid and so she packed up her bags and books and headed to the landmarks of the Civil War.

She met her first love, E, the third week of school at Peace Club and he was a major part of her life for the 4.5 year relationship. In her freshman writing class "My Flesh and Blood" was born, she became intrigued with dark writing, and continued to work with the stellar creative writing teacher and author, Sheila Mulligan.

Senior year she took a course with the author Fred Leebron who helped shape her perspective of the life of a writer. Through his connections Rachel met writers in all areas of poetry and prose:
